Anniversary of CPV's Entry into Korean Front Observed

Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were placed before the Friendship Tower Monday on the 61st anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) into the Korean front.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Chang Sik, minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, Kim Song Nam, vice department director of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Chol, vice-minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Po Gyong, vice-minister of People's Security, Kim Song Gi, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ku Pon Thae, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Choe Hui Thae, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, and others.

Placed before the tower was a wreath in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee and the SPA Presidium and the Cabinet of the DPRK.

Also laid were wreaths in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, Ministry of People's Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Culture, a wreath in the joint name of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association and a wreath in the joint name of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK and the Pyongyang City People's Committee.

Written on the ribbons of wreaths were letters reading "Glory to the fallen fighters of the CPV."

The participants looked round the tower after paying a silent tribute to the memory of the fallen CPV fighters who bravely fought in the Korean front.

On the same day laid before the cemetery of the fallen CPV fighters in Hyongjesan District were a wreath in the joint name of the Hyongjesan District, Pyongyang, Committee of the WPK and the Hyongjesan District People's Committee and wreaths in the name of KPA units, the Chinese embassy here and the Central Committee of the Association of Chinese Residents in Korea.
