Anniversary of WPK Celebrated Abroad

Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- Events took place in various countries to mark the 66th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 85th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU). They included meetings, reading sessions, lectures, photo exhibitions and film shows in Germany, India, Guinea, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Displayed in their venues were photos on the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il and books and photos showing the validity and vitality of the Songun politics.

Korean films shown included "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation" and "The Country Shining with Arms of Mt. Paektu".

The chief of the Hannover Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in Germany said in a meeting that since its founding the WPK which inherited the tradition of the DIU has covered the road of victory despite all sorts of interference and aggression moves of the imperialists.

The people of the DPRK would surely hit the high goal of building a thriving country under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il, he said.

Riyad Chaloub, chief of the Guinean Group for the Study of February 16 Art, at a reading session praised the undying feats performed by Kim Il Sung for party building.

The President's feats will shine long with the invincible dignity of the WPK, he stressed.

Former Deputy President of the National Assembly of Nigeria Ibrahim Mantu, who is member of the Credit Committee of the People's Democratic Party, said that the Korean people are speeding up the building of a thriving nation full of conviction and optimism under the leadership of the WPK. We will conduct the vigorous activities for supporting the struggle of the WPK and the Korean people, he declared.

A message of greeting to Kim Jong Il was adopted at an event in Germany.
