Japanese Call for Intensified Campaign for Normalizing DPRK-Japan Relations

Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The 35th national meeting for interchange to deepen the Japan-DPRK friendship took place in Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan on Oct. 1 and 2.

Present there were personages of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, Liaison Council of the Society for the Study of the Juche Idea of Japanese Teachers, Japan Teachers' Union and the Fukuoka Teachers Union, friendly teachers and members of civic and public organizations from across Japan and officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and other Koreans in Japan.

Speeches were made by the chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, the president of the Liaison Council of the Society for the Study of the Juche Idea of Japanese Teachers and the president of the Fukuoka Teachers Union.

They noted that a dynamic campaign has been conducted to urge the application of the tuition waiver program for senior high schools to the Korean schools in Japan.

They called for intensified campaign to realize the Japan-DPRK diplomatic relations according to the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.

Then followed a keynote report.

The reporter recalled that the national meeting for interchange has played an important role in the movement to inform the Japanese of true reality of the DPRK and deepen the friendship between two countries, and advanced the future task facing the meeting.

The meeting adopted a resolution on intensifying the movement to urge the Japanese government to promptly apply the aid program to the Korean schools, resume inter-governmental dialogue between Japan and the DPRK and realize the bilateral diplomatic relations by 2012.
