Paduk, Traditional Play of Korean Nation

Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- Paduk (go) is one of the Korean nation's folk plays.

Paduk was created in the period of Ancient Korea (early 30th century B.C.-108 B.C.) and further developed and popularized in the period of the three kingdoms (Koguryo, Paekje and Silla).

According to the Korean history book "Samguksagi" (Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms) and some Chinese history books, paduk enjoyed a great popularity in the period of the three kingdoms.

There are old anecdotes, proverbs and literary works about paduk.

Paduk has become an indoor intellectual sports event played in international tournaments like martial arts games.
