Tudan Duck Farm Undergoes Technological Updating

Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- The Tudan Duck Farm situated on the banks of the River Taedong has been reconstructed as a modern duck breeding and processing base.

Pak Song Gun, manager of the farm, told KCNA that the farm has completed the production system of fermented feed in an industrial way, scientific duck production system, ring-shaped cyclic production system based on duck excrements and by-products and computer-controlled system of production processes and management activities.

The farm developed microbial fermented feed and animal protein feed to decrease the feed consumption more than 25 percent, increase meat weight and cut down the time of meat production, the manager said, adding:

It also streamlined the fermented feed production processes to increase the production capacity 50 percent and built a protein insect production facility.

Incubation, feed analysis and prescription, duck breeding and processing, temperature and humidity are all controlled by computer.

Duck houses are air-conditioned by use of geothermal heat and sterilized by ozone.

The farm produces methane gas with duck excrements and uses the draff in the production of liquefied organic fertilizer and organic compound fertilizer, while feeding fishes with duck by-products.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the farm some days ago and expressed his great satisfaction at the updating of all the production processes.
