9th National Korean Dress Exhibition Opened

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The 9th national Korean dress exhibition was opened with due ceremony at the Central Youth Hall Wednesday.

On display at the exhibition hall are more than 700 sets of Korean dresses of various forms suited to four seasons, which were presented by garment production units under ministries and national institutions and in provinces and public service units across the country.

The theme of the exhibition is on preserving the Juche character and national identity in development of dress culture.

Those sets of dress on display, divided into normal, holiday and wedding clothes, draw attention for their good harmony between color and decorative patterns suited to feature of national costume.

Also catching the eyes of visitors are various seasonal clothes well designed to suit the modern sense of beauty according to age, figure and taste of the Korean women.

During the exhibition there will be model dress show, display of books and multimedia on garment technique and lecture on the issues arising in Korean dressing processing.

Jo Yong Chol, minister of Foodstuff and Daily Necessities Industry who doubles as chairman of the Korean Dressing Association, made an address at the opening ceremony.

The exhibition will last until Friday.
