Russian Paper Supports Proposal for Founding DFRK

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- The Russian newspaper Selskaya Zhizn Oct. 4 ran an article titled "For peaceful reunification of Korea" on the 31st anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo (DFRK).

The article said:

The Workers' Party of Korea regards it as the most realistic way for independent and peaceful reunification of Korea to form one federal state of the north and the south of Korea while leaving the existing different ideas and systems.

Therefore, it proposed to establish a unified national government in which the north and the south are represented on an equal footing and have the name of the federal state as DFRK, well known worldwide.

The DFRK will be a neutral state which does not join any political-military alliance or bloc.

It will adhere to independence in all state activities and pursue an independent policy.

It will effect democracy throughout the country and in all areas of society and promote great national unity and ensure the independent development of the national economy.

It will realize north-south exchange and cooperation in the spheres of science, culture and education and reopen the transport and communications links.

It will remove the state of military confrontation between the north and the south and form a combined national army to defend the nation against invasion.

It will deal properly with the foreign relations established by the north and the south prior to reunification, and coordinate the foreign activities of the two regional governments in a unified manner.

This is the stand of the WPK.
