Nicaragua Rejects U.S. Interference in Upcoming Elections

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- The Nicaraguan foreign minister firmly rejected the U.S. interference on Thursday.

The official position was announced by Foreign Minister Samuel Santos, who denied the request of the U.S. government to accredit its embassy officials in Nicaragua as election observers. He branded it as interference in internal affairs of the sovereign state.

The Foreign Minister recalled that the Vienna Convention provides that diplomats may not interfere in internal affairs of the country where they are present.
