China Chides U.S. Pressure

Beijing, October 13 (KCNA) -- Ma Zhaoxu, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, at a press conference Wednesday, bitterly denounced the U.S. for putting pressure upon China over the issue of the RMB exchange rate.

The 2011 exchange rate supervision and reform bill recently examined and adopted by the U.S. Senate is aimed to take a measure for protectionism under the pretext of the currency imbalance, he said.

This is in wanton violation of the World Trade Organization rules and will seriously affect the Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations, he warned.

China strongly opposes the intention of the U.S. government and Congress to put pressure by passing its domestic legislation on the issue of its Yuan's exchange rate and rejects their methods of politicizing the economic and trade relations and trade protectionism, he stressed.
