Iran Rejects U.S. Military Hotline Proposal

Tehran, October 12 (KCNA) -- The Iranian Navy commander in an interview with a TV on October 10 rejected the U.S. vicious attempt.

Recently, some U.S. media reported that the U.S. was considering setting up a direct military hotline with Iran after a series of encounters between the U.S. and Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf. In this connection the commander said the Islamic Republic has no interest in establishing a military-to-military hotline with the United States.

This region belongs to regional countries which are capable of establishing its security, he said.

A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Majlis (parliament) said Iran has rejected the U.S. offer which legitimizes the U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf.

If the U.S. is worried about security in the Persian Gulf, it should immediately pull out its troops and warships from the region, he stated.
