S. Korean IS's Illegal Watch Disclosed

Pyongyang, October 12 (KCNA) -- The Intelligence Service (IS) of south Korea was disclosed to have kept track of civic and social organizations in secrecy, sparking furor, according to "Voice of People", an Internet broadcasting of south Korea on October 10.

This was disclosed through the "notice of execution of measures for restricting communications" worked out by IS.

According to it, the Pusan branch under IS tapped telephones of the core members of the Pusan Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration till October last year from 2007 and recorded all the contents down to the dialogues about their private life.

It has regularly watched fax, e-mail and Internet lines of the organization.

The organization attended joint national events in the north and received a congratulatory message. Charging it as the violation of the "National Security Law", the IS illegally bugged the members of the organization.

Communication means of the Pusan Action Headquarters of the Movement for Reunified Korean Nation and the Women's Council for Reunification were also under watch.

The executive chairman and secretary general of the Pusan Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration said it is very shocking that the IS has long kept eyes on them in secrecy.

The members of the Pusan Action Headquarters of the Movement for Reunified Korean Nation, angered at IS, said no one knows who is under IS's watch now.

They urged IS to bear responsibility for the recent case.
