Pyongyang Takes on New Look

Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- The DPRK capital city of Pyongyang is undergoing a facelifting to mark the 100th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The construction of 100,000 dwelling houses is progressing apace in the city. High-rise apartment buildings, a theatre and public service facilities are under construction in Mansudae area.

A public service complex covering 17,400 square meters and an outdoor ice rink covering 9,660 square meters have been built in east Pyongyang area on the other side of the River Taedong.

The complex will be furnished with up-to-date equipment for bathing, haircut and beauty treatment.

Amusement facilities and wading pool will appear in the Rungnado Recreation Ground.

A greening campaign is also under way in the city.

Greenhouses have been constructed in all districts and old fences of public buildings replaced with iron and stone ones of diverse shapes.

Exteriors of apartment and public buildings have been tiled and painted again in different colors and street light decorations have been renewed.
