Moscow, October 9 (KCNA) -- Russia's prime minister called for the rearmament of the army.

Speaking at an investment forum held recently, Vladimir Putin said the rearmament is conductive to ensuring the country's security and overall economic development.

Noting that Russia will allot 20 trillion Rbl to the technical rearmament of the army, he said the figure is less than the U.S. military expenditure several times higher than a total of other developed countries' military funds.

"We do not take the country's militarization as our goal. What we are seeking is a technical rearmament," he added.
