Moscow, October 7 (KCNA) -- Valentina Matvienko, chairman of the Russian Federation Council, recently called upon the inter-parliamentary assembly of the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) to draw up a legal document governing cooperation in the space field.

Matvienko said the legal basis of the international treaty for the cooperation among CIS member nations fails to meet the demand of the era.

The chairman suggested that a draft convention concerning cooperation for a peaceful research in and use of space be drawn up to be committed to deliberation by the CIS Council of Heads of State.
