Tehran, October 7 (KCNA) -- Iran's minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics in a diplomatic appearance on October 4 clarified the stand of his country to defend the regional peace and security.

Presence of foreign countries is main obstacle in restoring peace and tranquility in the region, he said, adding that it has brought bloodshed and mass killings, violence and insecurity, boosting terrorism.

Peace and security of the region should be maintained by the countries in the region themselves, he said, calling for boosting cooperation among countries. The armed forces of Iran will make positive contributions to defending the regional peace and security.
