India Calls on UN to Adopt Comprehensive Convention against Terrorism

Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- India called on the United Nations to adopt the comprehensive convention against international terrorism. Indian Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament) Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan told this at the UN General Assembly session on October 5.

Terrorism is a scourge of humanity, he said, adding that the adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) would provide a solid legal basis for the fight against terrorism.

The UN global counter-terrorism strategy is incomplete in the absence of such a comprehensive convention, he noted.

The CCIT is a proposed treaty which intends to criminalize all forms of international terrorism and deny terrorists and their financiers and supporters, he stressed.
