Mausoleum of King Kongmin

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- The Mausoleum of King Kongmin (1330-1374) is in Haeson-ri, Kaesong City, DPRK.

Kongmin was the 31st king of Koryo (918-1392).

The mausoleum made up of two tombs, one for the king and the other for the queen, is known as the largest of the Koryo kings' mausoleums.

The mausoleum is bedecked with rectangular stairs, stone lanterns and sculptures of military and civil officials.

The sculptures, each being 3.3 meters high, are viewed as the best ones among the ancient stone sculptures in Korea.

Three walls and ceiling of the chamber are decorated with paintings.

The mausoleum is one of the precious historical and cultural heritages showing the Korean people's excellent talents and wisdom.
