WPK Remains Party of Kim Il Sung

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) has steadily preserved its nature and carried forward its traditions and cause through centuries, named after its founder.

When starting to work at the WPK Central Committee, General Secretary Kim Jong Il declared that the WPK has been the party of President Kim Il Sung from the outset and that it should always remain his party.

After proclaiming a program for modeling the whole society on the Juche idea in February Juche 63 (1974), he advanced another program for modeling the whole party on the Juche idea, saying that a revolutionary party should be based on the leader's ideas and all the party activities organized and conducted under his monolithic leadership.

Under the guidance of Kim Jong Il, the party building and activities have been conducted on the basis of Juche idea, theory and method and the monolithic ideological system and monolithic leadership system have been established in the whole party.

In particular, the party has entered a higher stage of its development since Kim Jong Il published a famous work "The Workers' Party of Korea is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" in the mid-1990s.

Kim Jong Il was reelected the WPK general secretary at its conference last year. It was a historic event of weighty significance in preserving the nature of Kim Il Sung's party and enhancing its function and role.
