Improved North-South Relations Called for in S. Korea

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- A deputy spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party in south Korea made public a commentary on the 4th anniversary of the October 4 declaration.

The June 15 joint declaration means a milestone for reunification while the October 4 declaration is a programme for implementing it, the commentary said, pointing out that had the south-north joint declarations been implemented, great progress would have been made not only in developing the inter-Korean relations but in achieving peaceful reunification of the Korean Peninsula and ensuring peace and stability in the rest of Northeast Asia.

It accused the present "government" of inciting the confrontation with fellow countrymen with such confrontation policies as "no nukes, opening and 3000 dollars" in total denial of the above-said declarations.

The commentary urged the "government" to roll back its policy for confrontation with compatriots, implement the inter-Korean declarations and mend the relations with the north at an early date.

The deputy spokesman also issued a commentary assailing the puppet navy for pushing forward the military base on Jeju Island and suppressing those people opposed to it.
