China Rejects U.S. Congress's Unreasonable Step

Beijing, October 5 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry in a statement on Oct. 4 rejected the recent U.S. Senate's bill on the Chinese yuan.

The bill will further escalate the exchange rate issue by adopting protectionist measures with an excuse of "currency imbalance," he said.

Such a move violates rules of the World Trade Organization and obstructs China-U.S. trade ties, he noted.

China expressed firm opposition to the U.S. Senate's bill, he said.

He demanded the U.S. stop pressuring China through domestic law-making, abandon protectionism and not politicize the economic and trade issue.
