Abolition of S. Korea-U.S. "Mutual Defense Treaty" Urged

Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification on Oct. 1 made public a statement demanding the abolition of the shackling south Korea-U.S. "mutual defense treaty".

58 years have passed since the fabrication of the treaty, the statement said, noting that ink was barely dry on the armistice agreement when the U.S. concluded the illegal treaty violating it.

It accused the U.S. of stepping up arms buildup, building military bases and staging DPRK-targeted war exercises in south Korea and committing all sorts of crimes under the pretext of this treaty.

The treaty helped the U.S. deprive south Korea of everything and south Korea has been abused and even exposed to the threat of a nuclear war by the treaty, it deplored.

The statement called for waging more vigorous anti-U.S. struggle holding high the banner of "By our nation itself" in order to get the south Korea-U.S. "mutual defense treaty" scrapped and the U.S. forces, group of criminals, withdrawn from south Korea.
