Pyongyang, October 5 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty of south Korea issued a statement on Sept. 30 urging punishment of a GI criminal for his sexual assault against a south Korean girl student.

The statement recalled that the sexual assault against the girl student committed by the GI in Tongduchon is touching off bitter wrath among the people, accusing the authorities of evading the punishment of the GI criminal under the pretext of the south Korea-U.S. "Status of Forces Agreement".

The authorities are set to hush up the crimes the U.S. forces committed by threatening the people's life while cracking down upon those desirous of getting the registration fee halved with water cannon, the statement said, adding it can hardly repress the indignation at their attitude.

It urged the authorities to immediately put the GI criminal into custody and impose heavy penalty on him at a court.

If a fundamental measure is failed to be taken to eliminate the crimes by the U.S. forces this time, too, the authorities will face large candlelight resistance, warned the statement.
