Handre Plain of DPRK Introduced by Regional Organization

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- The International Alliance of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea and Songun Policy in East European and Central Asian Regions on Sept. 29 posted on its Internet homepage an article titled "Struggle to harness nature" introducing the realigned Handre Plain of the DPRK.

The article said:

The vast Handre Plain extends in Thaechon County, North Phyongan Province.

Backwardness and poverty prevailed in the plain before the country's liberation. Peasants did farming in patches.

Today Handre Plain has successfully turned into a land meeting the need of socialism under the plan of the Workers' Party of Korea for gigantic nature-harnessing. When sun rises in the morning amid the fog on the plain, such spectacular scenery presents itself that the sky and land seem to be linked with each other. The vast fields of the plain look more beautiful at sunset bright with evening glow.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il was greatly pleased to feast his eyes on the realigned Handre Plain, saying it was very beautiful.

In every spring farmers do farming in the plain, picturing to themselves a rich harvest.
