Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Il Sung University was founded as the first university in liberated Korea on Oct. 1, Juche 35 (1946) on the initiative of President Kim Il Sung.

On the 65th birthday of the university, Vice-president of the university Ri Chol Ho, told KCNA:

The university became the highest seat of the Juche-based education and a center of training national cadres under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero.

Under their deep care, the university turned into a giant educational and research institution embracing some colleges and many faculties.

The university has many competent teachers and researchers, including academicians and professors, equipped with modern educational and scientific research facilities like e-library, laboratories and swimming complex.

It has trained a large number of able national cadres armed with scientific and technological knowledge, greatly contributing to accelerating socialist construction in the country.

We will steadily improve the quality of education, while intensifying scientific researches.

The university was awarded the Order of Kim Il Sung twice.
