KCNA Commentary Blasts U.S. Strategy for Forward Deployment of Forces

Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Navy task force flotilla with George Washington as its prototype ship reportedly began entering some ports of south Korea from Sept. 28.

The U.S. Forces Command in south Korea said the entry of the U.S. warships is indicative of the U.S. interest directed to ensuring the regional stability and circumstances for economic development.

It is quite illogical.

The movement of the U.S. task force can never render any help to the regional stability and peace.

George Washington is a typical nuclear strike means with modern military equipment. Its operation theatre encompasses vast areas including whole of Korea and China as its radius goes beyond 1,000 km.

Given the ever-changing and complicated situation on the Korean Peninsula, the movement of task flotilla cannot but draw serious attention.

George Washington took part in south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises held in south Korea, seriously rattling the nerves of the DPRK and straining the situation in and around the Korean Peninsula.

The recent move is part of the U.S. strategy for forward deployment aimed to hold hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region with the Korean Peninsula as a springboard.

The U.S. is escalating tension in the region and does not hesitate to step up the forward deployment of attack forces to realize its Asia strategy for aggression.

In order to improve the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, it is necessary, above all, to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula, one of the world's biggest hot-spot. To this end, it is imperative for the U.S. to drop its anachronistic policy of hostility toward the DPRK aimed to stifle it by force.

An armed clash on the peninsula can instantly spill over into a war threatening the regional situation.

The U.S. would be well advised to stop reckless military actions in and around the Korean Peninsula.
