Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee issued a bulletin under the title "DIU and Workers' Party of Korea" on Sept. 26 on the 66th anniversary of the WPK and the 85th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU on October 17, 1926, the bulletin said, and went on:

The formation of the DIU is of special significance in the modern history of Korea and the WPK's programme is based on the DIU's programme.

The formation of the DIU made it possible for the Korean revolution to take a new road of development with its clear fighting target and strategy and for the Korean people to carve out their destiny by themselves as an independent driving force of history.

The WPK regards the principle of independence set forth by the DIU as the steadfast guidelines for party building and activities.

The Party was founded with the vanguard fighters of the new generation trained by the DIU as hardcore.

The members of the WPK are always standing in the van of socialist construction through which what was desired by the President is becoming a reality under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The Korean revolution will win only victories in the future, too, under the leadership of the WPK which inherited the tradition of the DIU.
