Moscow, September 29 (KCNA) -- Russia's birthrate in August was 8.5 percent higher than the same month of last year, while the infant mortality decreased 15.4 percent.

It was the first increase in the country since 1991, the Russian minister of Health and Social Development said on Tuesday.
