Metal Relics Illustrative of Korean People's Wisdom

Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- An exhibition of metal relics is going on at the Korean Central History Museum in Pyongyang.

On display at the museum are some of the metal relics dating back to the period ranging from the ancient times to the last years of the Ri Dynasty (1392-1910).

The Korean people had advanced bronze casting and processing techniques already in the ancient times.

Typical of the relics belonging to the ancient times are pipha-shaped dagger and narrow brass dagger.

The Korean people also took the lead in ushering in the Iron Age.

Miniature horses discovered in Kosan County, Kwangwon Province, are indicative of the iron culture of Koguryo kingdom (277 B.C.-668 A.D.)

The 54 iron horses of different sizes were made by pig iron and steel casting techniques based on dry metallurgy.

Metal types dating back to Koryo kingdom (early 10th century-late 14th century) catch visitors' eyes.

They were made when wooden types were used all over the world.

A blackish copper censer made in 1352 is well decorated with fine silver threads, showing that the Korean people's metal processing technique reached a high level at that time.

In the period of the Ri Dynasty gold, silver, nickel and other metalwork developed rapidly.

All the exhibits provide a glimpse of the Korean people's distinguished wisdom and ability.
