Pyongyang, September 29 (KCNA) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with the U.S. secretary of State in New York on Sept. 26 and demanded the U.S. immediately cancel the plan to sell arms to Taiwan.

The U.S. decision to sell arms to Taiwan is a grave violation of the principles of the three China-U.S. joint communiques and the August 17 joint communique, in particular, and an interference in the internal affairs of China, he said.

It also seriously hurt the national security of China and did harm to the cause of peaceful reunification and the Sino-U.S. relations, he added.

The U.S. should attach utmost importance to this solemn stand of China and halt its arms sale to Taiwan and military ties with it, he urged.
