Ryongrim County Takes on New Look

Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- Ryongrim County, Jagang Province in the northern part of Korea, has taken on a new look as required by the Songun (military-first) era.

Visiting the construction site of the Huichon Power Station in May, leader Kim Jong Il called for sprucing up the area whose landscape became more beautiful along with the building of the Ryongrim Dam.

In response to his call, soldier-builders and people of the county built modern entertainment and service facilities, including a wading pool and house of culture, in a short span of time.

The wading pool is surrounded by high mountain ranges in the north, east and south and has a sandy plain in the west along the River Jangja.

People in the county enjoy swimming and boating in the pool.

The house of culture, covering a thousand and several hundred square meters, has hundreds of seats and modern sound and lighting apparatuses.

The two-storied building of light green color is in harmony with the scenery of the mountain village.

An art piece portraying glow over Mt. Paektu and fantastic chandeliers inside the house of culture add beauty to the building.

Resting places, flower beds and dwelling houses in the country are all neat and tidy.
