Meeting for Solidarity with Korean People Held

Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting for solidarity with the Korean people was held in Bangladesh on Sept. 15 to mark the 66th anniversary of the foundation of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 31st anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo.

Present at the meeting were members of the Bangladesh Group for the Study of the Songun Policy and people of different social standings.

Present there on invitation were personages of the Korean Friendship Association headquartered in Spain, the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, the Juche Philosophy Study Committee of India, the Thailand-DPRK Friendship Association and staff members of the DPRK embassy in Bangladesh.

M. Jahangir Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Group for the Study of the Songun Policy, and other speakers referred to the significance of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo in bringing about a landmark turn in the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

Recalling that leader Kim Jong Il provided another milestone in national reunification through the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, they described this as an event of special mention in the history of the Korean reunification movement.

They urged the south Korean authorities to respect the proposal for reunification by federal formula and stop the military provocations for aggression.

They extended support and solidarity to the Korean people in their just struggle to bring about a landmark turn in peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula by promoting national reconciliation and cooperation and pursuing dialogue and negotiations.
