Beijing, September 22 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry at a daily press briefing on Tuesday clarified the stand of the country supporting Palestine's stand to build an independent state.

As regards Palestine's presentation to the U.S. of its bid for independent statehood, the spokesperson said: "China respects and supports Palestine's bid for UN membership."

Seeking independent statehood is the inalienable right of Palestinians and works toward creating lasting peace in the Middle East, the spokesperson added.
