Japan Accused of Evading Settlement of Its Past Crimes

Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Yun Mi Hyang, permanent representative of the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Crops in south Korea, on Sept. 19 posted on its Internet homepage an article denouncing the Japanese reactionaries for evading the settlement of the past crimes.

The article blasted the Japanese government for insisting that the issue of reparation for the damage done by the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army had been already settled through the "south Korea-Japan agreement" signed in 1965.

However, that issue was not discussed at the talks for signing the agreement in those days, it charged, and continued:

Even international bodies are asserting that the issue had not been settled through the agreement and urging the Japanese government to make legal reparation.

Japan's behavior is nothing but an excuse to evade its legal responsibility, it noted.

It is very important for Japan to redeem its past crimes correctly, it said, urging Japan to honestly opt for settling the above-said issue.
