Int'l Symposium Closes in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The international symposium in commemoration of Kim Il Sung University's 65th anniversary closed with due ceremony at the university on Wednesday.

Present there were Kang Nung Su, DPRK vice-premier, Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Education Commission, Song Ja Rip, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education who doubles as chairman of the organizing committee of the international symposium, officials of educational institutions and the Academy of Social Sciences, teachers and researchers of the DPRK, delegations and delegates of different countries and members of the delegation of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries and representatives of international organizations and officials of foreign embassies here.

Song Ja Rip said in the closing speech that many renowned professors from universities and scientific and research institutions of various countries participated in the symposium and presented papers of academic significance.

The symposium confirmed each other's successes in educational and scientific development and exchanged views in the fields of cultural and social sciences and basic sciences.

The university would steadily expand the academic exchanges and cooperation with famous universities of various countries in the future, too, he noted.

He hoped that they would achieve greater success in their educational and scientific work and exchanges and cooperation.

The participants adopted a letter of thanks to leader Kim Jong Il at the ceremony.

Panel seminars and question and answer session took place as part of the symposium on the same day.
