Women Union's Art Performance Wins Acclaim

Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- A performance of art groups of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea is going on at the People's Palace of Culture in Pyongyang.

It, which begins with chorus "We Have Waited for You", represents the happy life enjoyed by the Korean women under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The dialogic poem "Mangyongdae Family and Blessed Women", poetic story "Women Whom the General Knows" and other colorful numbers reflect the Korean women's gratitude to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for having trained them as reliable revolutionaries.

The witty talk "Fragrance" and kayagum ensemble "Our Daughter-in-Law", based on the women's devotion to the harmony of their families and the prosperity of the country, are enthusiastically applauded by the audience.

Some of the numbers show the strong will of the Korean women to make a great contribution to defending the country and building a thriving nation.

Song Hyon Sun, an official of the union, told KCNA, "The performance gave me a good understanding of the validity and vitality of the mass-based culture and art. I will do my best to have women's artistic activities conducted throughout the country to encourage the people to turn out in the effort for the building of a thriving nation."
