Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- The North, South and Overseas Side Committees of All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration Monday released the following joint press release on the 4th anniversary of the October 4 declaration:

The Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity which was adopted amid the joy and excitement of all Koreans on October 4, 2007 marked another event in the national history as it put more strong spurs to the advance of the June 15 era and opened a wider avenue for the peace, prosperity and reunification of the country.

Witnessing the scenes of history where multi-faceted dialogue and contacts took place for implementing the October 4 declaration and the fellow countrymen grew stronger day by day in their desire for independent reunification, we keenly felt that the day of national reunification is gradually becoming a reality.

All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration publishes as follows to make sure that the 4th anniversary of the October 4 declaration is significantly celebrated as a joint event of the nation in keeping with the desire and will of the fellow countrymen to defend the peace of the country and achieve national reunification:

1. All-Korean Committee decided to hold a grand reunification event of the nation to be attended by representatives of political parties and organizations and personages of all social standings in the north and the south and abroad on the 4th anniversary of the historic October 4 declaration.

It decided to call the event "festival for peace and reunification marking the 4th anniversary of October 4 declaration" (short title October 4 festival for peace and reunification) and hold an opening ceremony, a meeting for peace and reunification for implementing the inter-Korean declarations, a joint seminar, inter-sector meetings, a concert for peace, a closing ceremony, etc. in Kaesong and Inchon on October 3 and 4.

2. All-Korean Committee decided to hold various events suited to the regional specific conditions in the north and the south and abroad on the same occasion.

Implementing the inter-Korean joint declarations guarantees a bright future of the peace and reunification of the country and provides a way of breaking the impasse today when it is in the phase of confrontation.

All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration will make every possible effort to bring the joint event of the nation to a success by pooling the minds and will of all Koreans.
