Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery Associated with Noble Comradeship

Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) -- Twenty-five years has elapsed since the construction of the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery was completed on September 17, Juche 75 (1986). The cemetery, which was built on the initiative of leader Kim Jong Il, is located in Sinmi-dong, Hyongjesan District, Pyongyang.

Thanks to noble comradeship of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, martyrs who performed feats for national liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, building of socialist society and reunification of the country were buried at the cemetery.

When visiting the cemetery on September 19, 1998, Kim Jong Il stressed that it is an invariable policy of the Workers' Party of Korea to add luster to the feats of revolutionaries.

All the martyrs in the cemetery have tombstones inscribed with their stone pictures.

Many Koreans in the north, south and abroad have visited the cemetery to pay tribute to the martyrs.
