Performances Given to Mark Birthday of DPRK

Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Performances took place in Pyongyang and local areas to mark the 63rd anniversary of the DPRK.

A music concert was given by the Samjiyon Band of the Mansudae Art Troup at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

The concert began with prelude "The Glorious Motherland" and "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung".

Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as immortal classic song for violin "Song of Best Wishes", male solo "General on His Way to Field Inspection" and chorus "Led by You, We Will Win".

The performers sang of their profound thanks to President Kim Il Sung who built a socialist power centered on the popular masses and provided an eternal foundation for the prosperity of the country and nation and to Kim Jong Il who has led the building of a thriving nation to victory.

The artistes of the State Symphony Orchestra gave a concert at the Moranbong Theatre.

They put on the stage such numbers as orchestral music "Our General Is the Best" and "Charm" and string ensemble for pizzicato "This Country Is So Good", making the theatre pervade with reverence for Kim Jong Il.

A performance of light comedy "An Echo among the Hills", winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, was given at the National Theatre.

An acrobatic performance was given at the Moranbong Circus Theatre, imbuing citizens with revolutionary optimism and joy.

Art performances also took place in different parts of the country including North Phyongan, Kangwon and South Hamgyong provinces.
