S. Korean Authorities Urged to Compensate NDYSL Victims

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The Seoul High Court in south Korea on Tuesday ruled that the "government" authorities should make reparations to the victims of the National Democratic Youths and Students League (NDYSL) and their families.

According to the south Korean Yonhap News, the court judged that the authorities should do that as the investigator illegally detained the suspected persons, deprived them of the right to be defended and forced them to make false statements by torture and threat.

In 1974 the then fascist regime termed NDLSY an "underground organization for communist revolution" and charged its members with attempted rebellion because they led an anti-dictatorship struggle.

Later, it was revealed that the incident was a fabrication cooked up by the fascist regime in a bid to maintain its power. So, the victims were found not guilty last year.
