"Song of Proclamation of People's Republic"

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- "Song of the Proclamation of the People's Republic" was written by Kim U Chol and composed by Pak Han Gyu 60 years ago to mark the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on September 9, Juche 37 (1948).

The song represents the Korean people's great pride in becoming masters of a new society after the liberation of the country from decades of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule.

During the Japanese rule, the Korean people had been deprived of everything, even their language and names.

As they keenly felt the grief of a stateless nation, they greatly rejoiced at the founding of the DPRK.

The song reflects the Korean people's strong will to make the country prosperous and powerful, closely united around President Kim Il Sung, the founder of the Republic and the sun of the nation.

In the refrain the song stresses that new Korea guided by the President will always emerge victorious.

The song greatly encouraged the Korean people to successfully build a new society, defeat the U.S. invaders in the Fatherland Liberation War and perform heroic feats in the postwar rehabilitation and construction.

It still enjoys popularity among the Korean army and people, who are striving hard to build a thriving nation under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
