Immediate Pullback of US Forces from South Korea Urged

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Leading newspapers of the DPRK Thursday in bylined articles called for an immediate end to the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea on the lapse of 66 years since their military occupation of it.

Rodong Sinmun said the U.S. styled itself a "liberator" when occupying south Korea but its forces which landed there were not liberators but invaders and occupation forces.

The U.S. is the arch criminal who has inflicted unbearable misery and pain for such a long time since it bisected Korea into two parts, the paper noted, and continued:

The U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea was a blatant infringement upon the sovereignty and national dignity of Korea and a crime against reunification and peace as it was quite contrary to the will and desire of the Korean people.

It was due to the U.S. that the Koreans suffered a catastrophic war disaster in the 1950s of the last century.

The U.S. forces' presence in south Korea is a violation of the Korean Armistice Agreement as it called for consulting the issue of the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Korea.

The Korean Peninsula has become the most dangerous hotspot where a new war may break out.

It is the U.S. military strategy towards the DPRK to provoke a war on the Korean peninsula and stifle the DPRK by force of arms.

The situation has always remained tense on the peninsula but a war did not break out there and peace is preserved entirely thanks to the stand and efforts on the part of the peace-loving DPRK.

The U.S. forces' presence in south Korea is the main stumbling block as it blocks not only the unified development and prosperity of the Korean nation but also lasting peace and security and economic prosperity in Northeast Asia.

Ensuring peace on the peninsula is also a historic task for guaranteeing world peace and the prosperity and development of the countries and nations in the 21st century.

The relaxation of tension and guarantee of peace on the peninsula provide the master key to forcing the U.S. forces to pull out of south Korea and putting an end to the U.S. imperialists' military intervention in this region.

Minju Joson urged the U.S. to take an immediate measure for pulling back its forces from south Korea.
