Tehran, September 7 (KCNA) -- The Iranian government announced on Monday that it has plans to save the dying lake of Urmia.

Iran is to pump water of the Aras River to the lake and improve the ecological environment in its vicinity according to the plans.

The lake located in northwestern Iran is the third largest saltwater lake on earth. It is reportedly to be rapidly shrunk due to the drought in recent years.
