Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Ophthalmic Hospital has made fresh achievements in treatment of eye diseases.

The hospital has applied new treatment methods to those suffering from high myopia, retinal detachment and idiopathic macular hole.

Unlike the existing method of lowering high myopia, the hospital preserves the adjusting capacity of crystalline lens by implanting iris-claw intraocular lens without removing cornea or crystalline lens. It has also succeeded in reducing the morbidity rate of retinal detachment.

The hospital has laid material and technical foundations for producing iris-claw intraocular lens.

It has also proved successful in operation on uveitis, retinal detachment and idiopathic macular hole.
