DPRK Starts Breeding Rainbow Trout in Seawater

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- The DPRK has succeeded in breeding rainbow trout in seawater.

After adapting the fish to the East Sea of Korea in a scientific way, the country is now doing it in the West Sea unfavorable for breeding the fish.

Breeding rainbow trout in the sea is high in economic profitability.

It takes about two years to raise rainbow trout up to over 300 gram in fresh water, but it takes only three or four months to adapt 100 gram rainbow trout to seawater and raise it up to more than 300 gram.

The Ryongyon Seaside Fish Farm is breeding 100 gram rainbow trout in seawater. After less than one year a rainbow trout weighs 1 000 gram in seawater.
