Business Gets Worse in Japan

Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- Sales of cars, trucks and buses in August plunged 25.5 percent from a year earlier to 216,510 units in Japan for the 12th consecutive month of fall after subsidies for purchasing eco-friendly cars ended in September 2010, an industry body said Thursday.

Car sales dropped 29.5 percent to 188,656 units, while truck sales expanded 22.5 percent to 26,635 units, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said.

Fast Retailing Co., the operator of the Uniqlo casual clothing chain, has announced its sales in Japan in the business year to Aug. 31 fell 1.5 percent from a year earlier for the first decrease in eight years.
