Beijing, September 4 (KCNA) -- The Chinese special envoy for the Middle East issue on Aug. 31 urged UN to play an important role in solving the issue.

Wu Sike told a press conference that UN's responsibility is crucial for solving the Middle East issue.

China supports the Palestinians' effort to win UN backing for its state building, Wu added.
