Moscow, September 4 (KCNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at Moscow State International Relations' University on September 1, warned the U.S. against its moves to deploy the missile defense system (MD) in Europe.

The MD is being deployed in Europe in the scope defined by the U.S. and this may be a threat to the strategic nuclear forces of Russia, he said.

The U.S is still refusing to guarantee that the MD in Europe is not targeted against Russia, he noted. If the U.S. and NATO deploy MD without restriction, Russia will take countermeasures.
