S. Korean Military Authorities Denounced for Suppressing Religious Freedom

Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Believers of the Hyangrin Church in south Korea held a prayer meeting on August 28 to denounce the military authorities for suppressing the believers by invoking the "National Security Law".

They accused the Defense Security Command of investigating several times Sol Tu Bok, a believer of the church who works at the south Korea-U.S. "combined forces command," on alleged violation of the fascist law.

The matters which the Defense Security Command termed violation of the law were a letter of introduction he presented to the church, his participation in a signature campaign demanding the conclusion of a peace treaty and his church services at Taechu-ri, a village in Phyongthaek, south Korea, they said.

He became a victim of the evil law which suppresses even the freedom of legitimate religious activities, they noted.

They called for an immediate abolition of such a bad law and a stop to the suppression of the religionists.

A protest letter to the defense minister was made public.

The church has held a demonstration outside the National Defense Ministry in protest against the suppression of Sol from August 23.
