U.S. Travel Company to Launch DPRK Tourism

Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- The Illinois-based Asia-Pacific Travel Company on August 25 released an announcement that the Kumgangsan Hotel will be available for Mt. Kumgang tourists from next year, according to VOA.

It is known for the first time that the hotel will open for foreign tourists, and until now foreign tourist groups have lodged at a hotel in Wonsan City during their tour of Mt. Kumgang, the radio said, adding:

The company announced that it would debut a new program of touring the DPRK's famous mountains from June to September next year. The program will include Mts. Paektu and Chilbo, Hamhung and Wonsan cities and other amazing and historical sites which had been difficult to visit.

It will be the first time for Americans to tour Mt. Paektu.

The company also said that the DPRK tourism would be organized during celebrations of the centennial birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
