Resignation of Anti-reunification Conservative Elements Demanded

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The People's Action for the Resignation of Hyon In Thaek in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on August 30 demanding the replacement of all the anti-reunification conservative elements.

A press release was read out at the press conference at the end of speeches.

The press release referred to the fact that opposition parties presented a proposal calling for the dismissal of Hyon to the "National Assembly" on August 29.

The authorities should bear in mind that this serves as the people's judgment of the present regime which denied the south-north joint declarations from the very day of their coming to power and drove the inter-Korean relations to a collapse by putting up the watchword of "no nukes, opening and 3 000 dollars," a policy of confrontation with compatriots, it said.

It held that Hyon should step down as he played a leading role in shaping the present authorities' "policy towards the north" and all other conservative bureaucrats including Won Se Hun, director of the Intelligence Service, Kim Thae Hyo, chief secretary for foreign strategy of the secretariat of Chongwadae, and Kim Kwan Jin, minister of Defense, be replaced with new ones.

The press release warned the authorities would face stronger popular resistance, should they disregard the fellow countrymen's desire for reunification.
